So close, and yet so far....

Thu Nov 5, 2009, 9:49 AM
Feeling shitty at the moment. Sorry I haven't been on much, I haven't done much art recently and was distracted by something going on in real life. Long story short, I met an awesome girl, we spent a lot of time together and I thought she liked me, and right as I asked her out I got shut down. *sigh* :( My mood should improve in a few days. The full story is at the end of the journal if you are curious. Here are some random blurbs of news.

*Amritha caught my kiriban, so she gets giftart eventually! Hopefully within two years! :D YAY

Zombieland was hilarious.

I'm at a loss at what to draw. Usually I get random spurs of creativity, but I haven't had any recently.

I bought an awesome reversible polyester coat thing from the thrift store. I think it's from the 70s. Don't know if I'm going to wear it in public.

School is getting more busy, urg. But it's almost done.

Apparently they're making a prince of persia movie.

Now for something completely different.

About a month ago, I met a girl in my biology lab. I joked with her and talked with her the whole time. Next week, we did the same thing, but afterward we stood outside the classroom and talked for three hours straight about random stuff. I found out that she loves horror movies, hates chick flicks, and played more video games than me. Wow. After that, she asked for my number to text me more. Double wow. The next couple weeks we talked more, and sometimes I would go to her dorm to watch movies with her and her roommates. we could easily stay up for a few hours texting. I got to know her more and found out she is not materialistic, she hates drama, she'd rather hang out with nerdy guys than girls, she likes zombies, she is an artist, she gets irritated when people mix up they're/there/their, and she likes the color blue. And she was pretty. It's hard enough to find girls here in this small town, let alone an attractive nerdy girl. I honestly didn't expect to meet someone like her out of the blue. We spent a lot of time together, once in her dorm we stayed up for five hours just talking, and she fell asleep on my shoulder. She also once told me that she never really talks to guys like this Naturally, I assumed she liked me. I wanted to ask her out on a weekend, so I waited until she wasn't busy(she usually traveled home for the weekends). In that time of a week or two, she became a little more distant to me. I was confused, and the mixed messages weren't helping. She had told me that she was actually really shy about her feelings, but also that she had once told me she hates hurting guys more than anything. I didn't think she was subtly talking about me. My optimism got the better of me, and I still decided to ask her out so I could know for sure. I vowed to get the courage up to ask her on wednesday, after our Biology lab. So yesterday, after the lab, I walked her back to her dorm like I usually do, and waited for a lull in the conversation to ask her if she would be busy this weekend. I have no idea if she is psychic or something, because about a second before I asked her she said, "Hey...I've been meaning to talk to you." Right about now my thoughts were "Shit. No. Nononono." She continued, "I know we started off like something was going to happen. And you are a really great, really funny guy, and you are going to make a lucky girl very happy one day. But I just...want to be friends. Because you're still awesome."
...ouch. Not awesome enough I guess. I'm not sure what happened after that. I think I just nodded in silence, and said something like "thanks for being honest". It doesn't help that I know that she feels horrible about all this.

...Fuck.

It shouldn't hurt this much.

Zombies are my current obsession at the moment. I'm also kind of a nerd. Whether it is pumpkin carving, making monsters out of socks, sculpting Sculpey sculptures, drawing cartoons, drawing realism, drawing digitally, making things out of duct tape, or using cloth mache to create dragons, I try to be unique and use a variety of mediums.
